Valley Health Board of Directors
 
The Valley Health Board of Directors consists of a diverse, energized group of community members who volunteer their time working to provide family planning services to those in need in the Grand Forks and surrounding area.
 
Robert Sorlien,
Chair
 
Bob was born and raised in Grand Forks and likes it here very much. He is a Business Banking Officer for Bremer Bank. In addition to serving on various committees, Bob is Chair on the Valley Health Board of Directors. "Community involvement is important to me and I believe organizations like Valley Health are essential to the community."
 
 
Robin Carriere,
Treasurer
 
Robin is a native of Mandan, ND and currently lives in Grand Forks with her husband and two children. She works in mortgage banking at Alerus Financial.
 
Brad Gibbens
 
Brad is Deputy Director & Assistant professor for the Center for Rural Health at the University of North Dakota and has served on the Valley Health Board of Directors for over 20 years. “I believe very strongly in providing family planning services to families. The community, families, and individuals are strengthened when we apply a shared responsibility approach to working with people to better understand responsible reproductive behavior.”

Michele Thiel

Michele is a native of East Grand Forks and the Director of Human Resources for Grand Forks County. She has a strong commitment to public service and community involvement and has volunteered on the board of directors of several local and state organizations. "I feel giving back to the community is not only a responsibility it is also a great privilege. I am honored to be part of Valley Health which fills such an important need in the Grand Forks area."


Dr. Kim Konzak-Jones, MD,
Medical Director
 
Dr. Konzak-Jones is Faculty Physician at Altru Family Medicine Residency Center, where she has practiced and overseen residents for 10 years. Prior to that she was at Towner County Medical Center in Cando for 7 years.
She is currently the Medical Director for Valley Health and also the Medical Director for the North Dakota Family Planning Program. Married to Lee Jones, who farms at Devils Lake, they have 2 children, Zachary and  Ramsey.

Becca Cruger,
Vice-Chair

Becca is an Assistant Director for the Pancratz Career Development Center within the UND's College of Business and Public Administration. She is passionate about community volunteerism, engagement, and access to healthcare. "The ability to access and afford such a fundamental service as healthcare affects all other areas of people's lives. I'm proud to support such an amazing organization as Valley Health."

Katie Hatt, RN Secretary
 
Since graduating from the UND College of Nursing in 2008, Katie has been working as a mental health nurse. In 2012 she also became a certified teacher and began teaching Medical Careers courses for the Grand Forks Area Career & Technology Center. Katie joined the Valley Health Board of Directors in 2013, “I am honored to serve for this organization which educates men and women in our community, empowering them to take responsibility for their reproductive health. It is crucial for a community to have these health services accessible for all.” 

Stephanie Johnson
 
Stephanie Johnson is a Contracts Officer/ Intellectual Property Specialist at the Energy & Environmental Research Center at the University of North Dakota.

Amy Shimek, RN, MSN, FNP-C, CHC
 
Amy is a Fisher, MN native, now residing in Grand Forks with her husband and three daughters. She is a nurse practitioner & health coach. She has practiced in Grand Forks since graduating with her Master's from the University of North Dakota in 2008.

Amy Beauchamp

Amy was born and raised in Grand Forks and attended GF Central as well as UND. She has spent the last 20+ years working for Grand Forks Public Schools and currently teaches in the Family and Consumer Sciences Department.

Kylie Oversen

Kylie Oversen is an attorney with Schneider Law in Grand Forks. She is a Killdeer, ND native and a three time graduate of UND. As a former state legislator who worked passionately to ensure access to reproductive healthcare, Kylie fully supports the mission of Valley Health and believes access to reproductive healthcare helps to provide economic security for women and families. 


 Valley Health Board of Directors meets the second
Tuesday of every month at Valley Health at 5:30pm.
