I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Minnesota State University in Moorhead and my Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Minnesota. I was employed with Polk County Public Health as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner for over 11 years before coming to Valley Health. I am happily married to a farmer and have two wonderful adult boys.

Laura Spicer, WHNP
My name is Laura Spicer. I started as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner at Valley Health in 2006. I am originally from Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School. I then attended the University of North Dakota and received my undergraduate degree in Nursing. I worked for six years at the Family Birthing Center at Altru. I completed my Master's degree through an on-line program from the University of Minnesota. I am happily married with four beautiful children.

Kathy Detke, WHNP
My name is Kathy Detke, and I have recently rejoined the staff at Valley Health. I have practiced as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner in Grand Forks since 1990. During that time I have been employed by Valley Health, Altru and Northern Valley OB/GYN. Originally from Williston, ND, I first received my LPN degree from UND-Williston. From there I went on to earn my RN degree from Dickinson State College, and completed my WHNP training from Harbor-UCLA, Torrance, CA. I am proud to bring over 35 years of OB/GYN nursing experience to Valley Health. My partner Jim and I have three grown children and two grandchildren. In my time away from the clinic, I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening and quilting.
